Round 4 - Holmesdale 3XI v OLD WILSONIANS 2nd XI
Holmesdale’s 3rd XI lost their unbeaten record with a 58 run Home defeat to Old Wilsonians’ 4th XI.
After losing the toss for the first time this season, Holmesdale were made to field first on a hot and humid May day.It was tough work in the field with Holmesdale bowlers facing a flat pitch, however, debutant Gillhouley impressed with some fierce bowling that resulted in the then league leaders taking 2 early wickets. 2 wickets from Moore and 1 from both Chapman and Acraman saw the opposition end on a below par 131/6 in their 40 overs.
In reply it was the youngsters Hart and Lindsay (15) who opened up and got Holmesdale off to a solid start, until a moment of confusion saw Hart run out for 16 runs. This ended up being just the beginning of the collapse as the home team lost their final 8 wickets for only 40 runs. A very disappointing day for Holmesdale but they still remain in the promotion places with 66 points from their opening 4 games. MotM Joe Gillhouley for his 2-36 and 20 runs.
Round 3 - HOLMESDALE 3RD XI v NATWEST 2ND XI
Holmesdale’s 3rd XI continued their rich vein of form with a convincing 92 run win away to NatWest’s 2nd XI that kept them at the top of the 1C Met/West division.
On a particularly hot day in Bexley it was no surprise that on winning the toss, Holmesdale elected to bat first. This proved to be a wise decision as Blackaby (66) and Luthra (77) put on 143 for the first wicket. After having a mini collapse, whereby they lost 4 wickets for 17 runs, it was Moore (23*) and Burrows (43*) who saw Holmesdale to their largest total of the season with 234 runs for the loss of only 4 wickets.
With a pitch offering a bit for the bowling side, Holmesdale knew they were in with a chance of making early inroads. However, despite Burrows (2-19) taking one early wicket, NatWest fought back to 78/1 by the time of drinks. The drinks break appeared to give Holmesdale a new lease of life with Moore (2-31), Dickinson (2-34) and Chapman (3-5) taking regular wickets that halted the home sides’ progress and ultimately meant that NatWest finished 92 runs short on 142/9.
Round 2 - Holmesdale 3rd XI v Orpington 4th XI
Holmesdale 3rd XI made it two wins from two with a convincing 9 wicket victory at home to Orpington 4XI at a very damp St Lawrence Ground.
After winning the toss and unsurprisingly electing to bowl first it was Lewis-Davies who got Holmesdale off to a great start taking 3 early wickets. Key contributions from Hobson and Loughnane along with 2 run outs saw Orpington succumb to 91 all out.
With rain on the horizon Holmesdale got their batting performance off to a shaky start with Luthra departing for 0. However, there wasn’t anything to be concerned about as Hart (30*) and Blackaby (58*) saw Holmesdale Home within 16 overs.

Contending with a difficult pitch to bat first on Cameron Lindsay was the star man for Holmesdale with an unbeaten 60 not out. 33, 25 and 24 from Grove, Luthra and Blackaby respectively helped the visitors to an above par score of 176 for 7 off their 40 overs. With the ball again it was Lindsey who starred with 3 wickets as OD CUACO succumbed to 100 all out.
