In 2007, a cricket exchange programme was devised between Holmesdale CC and an Australian Cricket Club - Boronia Cricket Club.
The exchange programme provides Holmesdale with an Australian cricketer for the English summer. The reverse occurs during the English Winter (Australian summer)
where a Holmesdale cricketer is sent to Boronia.
The cricketer plays as one of the club's own, while greatly contributing to the development of the club's junior cricketers. It allows the cricket club to gain a new perspective on cricket, allowing
them to learn from a different source but more importantly it gives a young cricketer the opportunity to gain experience from different conditions, culture and cricketing minds. Not to mention that
they also make new friends and experience a different lifestyle.
Applicants can be of any age with a eagarness to develop their game further by playing abroad. The deadline for applicants is the 29th June 2014 and a player will be chosen on the basis of who the club thinks will benefit most from the experience and who will represent the club best. Throughout the season fundraising events allow the club to pay for the cricketers' airfair. From here the cricketer will be accommodated by one of the overseas club families. The cricketer is often able to find jobs through the club and its members. This exchange benefits the clubs short term, while developing their long term prospects through the experienced gained and lessons learnt.
