In 2007, a cricket exchange program was devised between Holmesdale CC and an Australian Cricket Club - Boronia CC. This exchange program will provide Holmesdale with an Australian cricketer for the English season. The inverse occurs during the English Winter where we sponsor a player to travel and play a season for Boronia CC,Melbourne.
The cricketer will play as one of the club's own, while contributing to the development of the club's junior cricketers. It allows the cricket club to gain a new perspective on cricket, allowing them to learn from a different source but more importantly it gives a young cricketer the opportunity to gain experience from different conditions, culture and cricketing minds. Not to mention that they will also make new friends and experience a different lifestyle.
How do I apply?
The cricketer must be under the age of 28. The deadline for applicants is the 11th July 2009 and a player will be chosen on the basis of who the club thinks will benefit most from the experience and who will represent the club best. Throughout the season fundraising events allow the club to pay for the cricketers' airfair. From here the cricketer will be accommodated by one of the overseas club families. The cricketer is often able to find jobs through the club and its members. This exchange benefits the clubs short term, while developing their long term prospects through the experienced gained and lesions learnt.
