Holmesdale 1st XI welcomed Downham & Bellingham to Montreal Park looking to put right the wrongs from their encounter earlier in the season. On the hottest day of the year and a pitch resembling a hardened road, it was a simple decision for the Holmesdale captain to bat first. With a strong batting line up Holmesdale were confident of a achieving a large total. Saville (124) led the charge supported initially by Harbig (31) who took the attached to Downham hitting over the in field early on and then making the most of the deep fielders later by nudging 1s & 2s. As Harbig fell and shortly joined by Bryant Holmesdale needed to steady the ship and bat time. Saville and Epps (43) worked together to put on 96 for the 4th wicket, and putting Holmesdale in a commanding position with 10 overs remaining and the score on 211 Holmesdale were looking to finish very strong. Suddenly however they found themselves loosing 3 more quick wickets leaving Roffey (18) with the bowling tail order to support in an attempt to rack up as many runs as possible. Holmesdale hitting their target of 251 in real style from a cleanly struck 6 from East (6).

response the Holmesdale bowlers fresh from the shaded rest early in the day came out the blocks firing, as Mzaidume again impressed getting the opening batsman and no 3 caught behind very early on. Support by the controlled spin of McDowell (3-51) Holmesdale commanded the first 20 overs of the match. The 5th wicket was a long time coming but as the team stuck to their plans and tried various other options it was down to the flight of Roffey (3-23) to clean up the lower order and finished by Mzaidume (4-47) who picked up the final wicket caught by Roffey at first slip off the keepers gloves! Holmesdale now 6th in the league are looking to progress upwards and claim two more wins. The Holmesdale man of the match was Damien Saville for a powerful 124.
