In Loving Memory of David Martin a Club Legend

I am not sure if you know but one of the clubs finest batsman died very recently.

David Martin was an exciting and highly talented upper order batsman. He was unassuming, had a natural ability and a very good eye.On his day he destroyed the very best bowlers in club cricket.I would describe him as being one of the very best batsmen in the club's long history. An innings against Gravesend of over 150 remains in the memory of all those who were lucky enough to witness it. Kind Regards, Roger Cruttenden

Holmesdale indoor team crowned Sevenoaks Champions

Holmesdale indoor team were crowned Sevenoaks indoor champions, setting new indoor records in Wilderness sports centre on Sunday. The finals day started with a semi final match against Sevenoaks Vine. Holmesdale won the toss and elected to bat. A fantastic opening partnership from McDowell (30) and Epps (38*) got Holmesdale off to a flyer. Middle order support from Harbig, Domine and Melbourn took the game to another level as the walls were pounded. Holmesdale set a new Sevenoaks indoor record, scoring 159 runs off their 12 overs. In reply only Blackaby (35) was able to handle the pace and swing of the Holmesdale bowlers. The Vine valiantly reached 97 all out off 11 overs.
After a close fought second semi final Plaxtol lost in the last over to a fortunate Shipbourne.

In the long anticipated final Shipbourne won the toss and elected to bowl. They made immediate inroads taking the wicket of McDowell and Epps within the first two overs. The innings was steadied by superb batting from Domine (35) and Harbig (27) to take Holmesdale to a competitive 115. Shipbourne took the ball by the horns as they gradually chased down the runs, with Monty (29) demonstrating indoor class. However the total was well protect by consistent swing bowling from Van Den Berg and Melbourn and good fielding from the whole side. A combination of run outs and stump tumbling bowling won the game for Holmesdale in the 11th over, Shipbourne 98 all out.
Holmesdale will now go onto represent Sevenoaks in the Kent indoor finals at Canterbury in February one step along the road to Lords. The bespokes man of the match was Daniyal Domine.
